normal operating temp?

Dear Friends,

Has anyone got a similar setup to mine? My Camaro is a 1984 Z28. It has a carbureted 350 Small block. My question is this: what is the "normal" operating temperature for my engine? What would be running hot? Thanks for your input. The reason I am asking is because my engine stays around 220 degrees.

Love

220* is the normal operating temp for factory motors, if the 350 is a swapper then it sounds like someone reinstalled the factory temp thermostat. your motor should have a mechanical fan on it because it's an 84, if not and it has electric fans then they probably reused the factory set fan switch.

if you have a mechanical fan and want to lower the operating temp of the motor just put a cooler thermostat in it.

if you have an electric fan/fans then you will need the cooler thermostat and a fan switch with a cooler setting to match.
