Car: 87 Trans Am
Engine: 355ci
Transmission: w/c T5
rad?

hey guys I have a 87 trans am that came with an auto trany, then I converted to a 5spd manual trany. my Q's is can I still use the same rad or do I have to get one for a manual car. because the auto has the tranny cooler lines going into the rad or can I just thread bolts into the 2 holes. need help

Well...since the manual tranny does not USE the tranny cooler in the radiator, do one of the following...


1. Rip the tranny cooler lines out...the fittings from the radiator MIGHT drip a little ATF but after awhile it'll stop....since there's no more auto tranny sending fluid to it, it'll be fine.



2. If you went to a parts store and ordered a radiator for your car, you'd get the SAME one whether you told 'em manual tranny or auto.

The difference is the radiator normally comes with two small screw in plugs in these holes when you buy it. That's it.



I did the same swap not too long ago....I ended up going to Autozone and a buddy of mine who runs the store had a open box radiator that someone had returned, and he just gave me the plugs, since the majority of people have automatic equipped cars anyway.
