Fans not turning on!!!!

Ok, I have tried close to everything to get my fans to turn on. I tried some trouble shooting, but still no luck. The relay is new, I just installed a new Hypertech Fan Switch and still no luck. If anyone could help with this it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Jay

I had the same problem, instead of changin it I went out and bought a switch and some wire, spliced into the line and now i run it that way. Not the best way to do it but at least it works.

As posted earlier "are you sure the motor works??" I had a problem with mine that the fan didn't come on either. I ended up splicing wires too and had the fan rigged so that it comes on when the key is in the ON position. My fan stays running now regardless.

Make sure the fan motor is working
Check fuse

That could be a problem too, if the engine got hot a few times then the fan could have warped, check to see if the fan turns freely by hand. If not then theres your problem.

The fans do turn freely, the fuse is fine, and the fans do work when grounded. The only other thing that I thought might be wrong is the Air Temp sensor or the computer is screwed.

just check all your connections.......I had the same problem....installed a new motor, no luck. Everytime I turned on the AC the fan would work but when I turned the AC off the car would over heat. It ended up being a sensor I think. If your fan turns on when you turn the AC on the start with a sensor.

quick question for you guys.

red and black coming off of each individual fan (daul fan app)

if I ground the black wires the fans will come on when key is turned to start car and when car is running..

regardless of all the other sensors and relays???

That won't do anything, DustinImports.
The black wires are actually grounded already, behind the right headlight. You need to ground the relays for the fans and they will then come on depending on how you ground them.

The sensor that tells the computer what temp your car is at is the Coolant Temp Sensor. The computer will then ground out your fan circuit turning on the fan. On my TPI, it is located right below the throttle body and hidden by a hose. Sorry, I'm not familiar with the TBI intake setup. I just had this problem and it turned out that my fan motor was burnt out.

Re: Fans not turning on!!!!

I went with the toggle switch approach. I like the idea of being able to control as much as possible under the hood. Not to mention my amber light-up switch is a perfect color-match to the dashboard illumination on the 'bird. Also helps to suck some cool air in the compartment when you're in staging lanes at the dragstrip and the car is off.
