thats a dumb question but here goes:
1972 was last year for short pumps, on trucks, 1968 for cars, all vehicles after then are long pump, no such thing as short cept maybe some certain vettes later on

Long pumps have accessory mounting holes. Short pumps don't.

well its a common question, at least on older vehicle boards than the 80s,. there just were not any short pumps on regular passenger vehicles such as F bodies and B bodies and truck and such after 68 and 72 respectively,
long pump is what you have, holes or not, unless engine or water pump been swapped with incorrect(compared to factory installedd)
