Electric Fans Dont Kick In??
Hey guys, after 4 yrs of searching I finally bought myself an IROC. Anyways, the guy who owned it had some trouble with the fan and so he replaced the relay but that didnt help. He took it to a shop and they just told him to bypass it so now the fans run all the time. I would like to undo this and have it setup like its supposed to be.
Any idea what might be wrong and how I could check it???

first you will need to check the fan switch by the head, most of the time they get heated and crack. So the switch and wire may need replaced and fixed. And you need to be sure all the wiring is correct and not all hacked up and your fusible link is good. If the fusible link is bad you will need to order a positive battery terminal to fix the problem there. It runs 2 links I believe for the dual fan system and to the alt and to the starter. Get a chip with a lower temp setting for better cooling. I had my fan wiring all fixed and upgraded. The fan switch is no longer under the exhaust manifold. It took place of the Cts and I had put a lower temp switch installed and a chip for the fan to turn on at 190-195 I believe. And the A.C turns on when the A.c is on.
So remove all the direct system..
Good Luck

hopefully the way they bypassed was they took the two relay grounding wires and ground them right to the body, so when the car is on the fans are on. so u might get lucky and all u would need to do is unhook those connections and then find out what parts of the stock circuits dont work.
