engine full of water? an debri??

could a cold air intake set up that was made by someone without the plastic shields under the car cause an engine to totally deteriorate??? ok..... timing chain was the accused one.... really the teeth oon the cam shaft basically all are torn off.... so no working car.. timing chain no turning right or at tall....so yah the car stops......... but can the debri sucked in by the C.A.I cause all that damage.
just wondering

did you drive through a river?

otherwise the timing chain might have let go finally and that's why....can't really sheer teeth off the cam gear without something strange going on.

could of sucked in water and locked the engine up, the engine cant burn the water and i think it keeps the pistons from moving.

If by some strange reason you have a cylinder full of water you will have hydraulic lock. Liquids do not compress, so the piston will move up in the cyl until the liquid fills the remaining space and then it will stop. If you force it, you may bend a rod. Regardless, it sounds like the engine is destroyed.

Hydraulic lock used to happen to the old radial aircraft engines. the bottom cylinders would fill with oil due to residual oil in the crank case (they were dry sump motors), if the motor sat for a long time without being run. If you forced the crank thru the lock, you would bend a rod and the engine would suffer catastrophic failure once started. That's why those engines make so much smoke at startup.
