in desperate need of help!!!!!!

ok i need some help with my cooling fan! i got a heck of a deal on my 86 iroc, i bought it from an old guy who was doing it all up and his wife made him sell it so they could get a new house, it sucks for him, but i stole the thing trust me, but anyway back to the subject, he just got done doing the engine in it, he did alot of performance mods to it and knew what he was doing, but for some reason he didnt put any headers on it, put new manifolds on, so that was one of the first things i did to it when i got it, put dynomax street headers on it, when i bought the car the temp gauge worked, i dont know really when it stoped working but i noticed it did sometime after i did the headers, wasnt to worried bout it till one day i got stuck in traffic and it over heated bad, boiled over and all, so i parked it in a lot and towed it home, and went over it all, and realized the fan wasnt working, so i hard wired it to my fog lite switch just to get it to work, but i did notice then the fan switch in the block didnt have a wire to it, i was confused, i cant find ANY wire in the engine bay for it, and i have no idea what relay it goes to on the fire wall, can someone help me out with what relay it goes to, there are a few there and i dont know what relay is what, it has an 86 lg4 in it(305 carbed) im trying to solve that prob and id rather not go buy a new relay and stuff cause i know mine worked, just have no clue what happened to the wire, if i knocked it off doing the headers, forgot to put it back on or what, can any one please help me out. now it is sitting, i was going to just do that, then i spent over 4 grand since and still havent done the wire..lol....thanks everyone

Hey the same thing happened to me when I put headers on. The switch should be on the drivers side of your block. Just below the #5 cylinder. and there should be a single green wire with a slide on connector or the end of it. If your wire is gone it could have been burned off by the heat of the headers. Track the wire from where it connects back to the relay. Look for any unused wire just hanging or not connected to anything and go from there.

Good luck!

and for the relay

on my old 86 iroc the relay was mounted to the passenger side of the radiator. Well, technically mine was flopping around loose there, but that was where it would have been mounted if it was mounted still.
