Would this cause it to run high temps?

Would this cause it to run high temps?

Just bought an 87 Z. It runs okay when you first start it up but then it gets slopy especially when its hot. It definitly needs a tune up. The plugs are dirty, and the wires are pos's. I got new plugs, cap & rotor, plugwires, coil, and filters on the way. Would bad plugs and wires cause the car to heat up quickly? When I drive it the temp gets hot and when I shut if off I can smell burnt coolant.

Another question, can putting to much fluid in the radiator coolant reserve cause some to leak out the heater core? Heater core just started leaking yesterday and Im wondering if I filled it up to much or if I need a new one.

na the heater core will leak if its old and u need a new one.

if u fill the coolant to much it would just go out the coolant bottle on the strut tower.

a engine in bad tune wont run its best, which could result in hotter temps i would guess.

timing being off could cause a hot ocndition also.

other things would be a clogged exhaust or even a bad coolant mixture.
