switching to electric water pump..
switching to electric water pump..
Ok, imma be switching to an electric water pump soon, ordered radiator last night, ordering csi water pump in prolly two weeks..
now.. when i get it in.. i plan on putting it all in(after i get fans of course, dun wanna use stock ones).. um.. but, once i do that, imma need a belt system to drive the alternator, compressor, & power steering pump... now.. i can't find a belt system that will do those three things w/o attaching to water pump
.. so.. is there an electric power steering pump out there or something? or is there a belt system i can buy? i don't wanna buy an electric water pump & loose my AC.. ya know.. i kinda like it here in FL(even tho it only works half bummed).
Thanks

Is this for a drag car? If not, an electric pump is not what you want. They are not neary as effective as a belt driven pump, and are no where near as reliable. Then there is the belt issue. Most everything I've seen with electric pumps don't run alternators, or power steering, let alone AC?! I doubt that an elec water pump would even keep up on a hot day with the AC on.
I don't think an electric pump is what you really want, and you will be making your own type of mounting system if you decide to go down that route. I think the miniscule horsepower gains will not be worth the hassles.

you might have problems routing the belt..i know there is a direct replacment electric water pump that uses the stock routing.it bolts on everything like stock.it claims to free up like 14 horsepower...but the water pump is like 449.00...so its pretty expensive
wel... i've decided, to just get a decent mechanical water pump.. screw spending 250 for an electric & then having problems running the belt system.. i want it to be as easy as possible with the belts.. and throwing in an electric pump seems to put a big monkey wrench into it.
thx guys.
now which.. long or short pump? rofl.
