hypertech confusion?

Hey all, i just installed a hypertech fan switch and a hypertech thermostat in my car, there both 160* units. since then ive noticed my car seems to run to cold, it hardly comes off the first temp mark of 40 it mabe gets to 50 and the fan comes on, and it wont go of untill its back arround 40 agian.

the fan even stays on when im on the hiway. but i ma receiving hot air thru my heater, but at the same rate the car is staying at a hi idle, wich i think is cause its running so cold the ECM is overfueling it, and burning way more gas then it should..

anyone have an idea or know what may be wrong, or is this normal for the hypertech????, cause im not impressed.

BTW the car is a 1988 305 TBI 5 speed camaro single fan

Your not getting hot enuf to get into closed loop. That will incease fuel consumption. Your still getting heat because the 140-160 alot hotter than outside air.

yeah understand im not geting in to closed loop, but i should be getting in to closed loop, so is there a fault with my fan switch, or is there something else acting up?

hypertech confusion

Well one thing that I have learned is to never depend on the factory thermostat readings to be very accurate. I added an after market one from auto meter and it runs simultainously with the factory one.
I found that my factory temp gauge is off 20 to 40 degrees at different times.
But if your motor is still blowing hot air through the vents it must be near 150 or160 because at 140 my car will barely produce warm air.
The design reasoning behind the motor running cooler is the concept that when a motor runs cooler it produces more power.

oh my aim was totaly to run cooler and produce more power, thats why i went with the hypertech set up, i shure didnt expect it to run this cool thou, i think i may try running a TPI 350 fan switch , they run cooler then the 305 ones.

The tpi set up has dual fans remember that . The primary fan comes on at 160 and the secondary fan is triggered by the switch located between cylinders 6 and 8(on the passenger side cylinder head) is set to turn the secondary fan switch on at 220.
In all seriouseness maybe you should leave your set up the way that it is and run it at the trac and then when you have the time switch it back to the original state and take it to the trac and tell us if it made a difference at all there...(in 1/4 mile or mph)hopefully bothe I would hope for a tenth at least.
Dont get upset but I would get an after market (reliable) temp gauge (auto meter is good)before you believe everything you see depending on a gauge thats over ten years old..Like i said mine was way off I thought I was always running hot . It would say 220 and my temp was really 180..
