Need AC electrical question answered or schematic for AC.

I need a wiring diagram or someone who knows what the (2) prong electrical connector wires do on the AC compressor. here is is my issue.

I have an 86 ta 305 4bl (lg4) the ac compressor is shot. the wiring for it out of the (2) prong connector is that one terminal has (2) wires coming off of it and heading back to the engine. The second connector has a wire that goes to the back of the ac compressor into a little sensor.

I found (what I thought) was the identical compressor out of a similiar junker in the yard but it doesn't have that little sensor in the back. What is this sensor? Can I use this compressor? what do I wire the other terminal to since their is no sensor on the back of the ac compressor?

Please if anyone knows I would really appreciate the advice. If nobody knows, can someone who has the service manual for this year car post the schematic for the ac electrical?

Thanks...

This is a high pressure cutout. Seems to be used on mostly cars with electric fans. You can jump across the two terminals, most early cars don't have this anyway. Don't know of anyway to add it to a compressor without one. Just make sure your fan is working right. Diagram for the 86 is a piece of crap, looks like a bunch of worms, real small too. This is a later model diagram that should be close to what you have.

Wait, let me understand for sure what you have. Your old compressor that you're taking out has a pressure switch on the back of the compressor, two terminal with a plug in? This is a high head pressure cut out switch that is wired to declutch the compressor in the event the fans quit, or the condensor gets blocked, to protect the compressor and high side from ultra high pressure. Some older cars and cars with belt drive fans just don't have this cutout. To use a compressor without this switch on your car either cut the plug off and twist the wires together, or put a jumper between the two terminals to connect/shunt them. Might actually consider getting a correct compressor though, a rebuild is about 125 dollars most places.

clean the back of your replacement comrpessor. It may have a port for this switch. If it does, you can transfer the switch from your old compressor. Usually, they are only held in by a snap ring.
