AC compressor won't stop

Whenever my heater control is on anything but off, the ac clutch continually kicks on and off. When I use the defrost I can see the clutch kick on for a couple seconds then off. What is causing this?

Check the refrigerant pressure, if it is low the compressor clutch will continue to fluctuate like you are mentioning. I had this problem during the summer and found I had virtually no refrigerant in the system. I took the system apart, cleaned everything good and converted over to R134A. After servicing the system everything has worked fine.

What if the compressor just kicks on and stays on? Mine is doing that when I turn the heater on.

Re: AC compressor won't stop

That's what is what it should do. The compressor running isn't dictated by the temp selector. It (a/c compressor) will run when set to max, norm, bi-level or defrost.

(yes, I know this is a resurrected post)
