89 IROC air dam and condenser
89 IROC air dam and condenser
I have two questions about an overheating proplem. the radiator was replaced a year ago and the water pump and t-stat recently. coolent is in good shape. the fans operate correctly, and the car seemes to run fine when it is sitting in the driveway. i have read a lot about overheating due to missing air dam's, and i am not sure if mine is missing or not. I checked the 89 GM shop manual and it showes one that dosen't go down as far as the one on the 86 may dad has. Were there two differnt designs of air dams on the iroc's? Or should mine have two and the manual dosen't show it (including the one that everone says they scrape all the time)? if anyone has pictures those would help also, if the air dam's were differnt in 89. I also am questioning airflow through my A/C condenser, it is pretty banged up. could that be restricting the airflow enought to make it overheat?
The A/C dosen't work so i was considring removing the condenser, is there any good way to plug up the two holes? is it bad for it to be open to the atmosphere for a long time, i know there is a dryer in the system that will suck up lots of moisture, but it should be replaced if i replace the condenser also.Thank you for any help.
