Whats the temp gauge reading? And when does the car overheat? Highway speeds, idling, or town speeds?

Have you visually checked to make sure the air dam is place? Without an air dam the car will overheat at highway speeds within minutes and produce the overflow tank steaming problem you described.

Might try bleeding the system to see if you got trapped air pockets.

Also watch the temp gauge to see if the thermostat is opening up correctly.

it heats up at any speed in town or highway and really fast. how many air dams are there to check? sorry i am not the best under the hood. i think me and my dad are going to replace the thermostat tonight hope thats the problem. and when you asked. Whats the temp gauge reading? well thats a long story it goes all the way to 260 but my dad helped me put in aftermarket gauges and i do not think we have the neddles in the right places

Air dam will look something like this... http://www.hawksthirdgenparts.com/in...l?v=1&pid=8423

It's mounted right below the radiator area. It deflects incoming air up into the radiator area.

You can see it in Jim's signature currently. (The red camaro in the back you can see the black plastic air dam near the front bumper).

My camaro was hardwired, but its very bad for your engine because my camaro was not passing the smog test, so i un-hardwired it. I know it does heat up too about 230-240 then the stupid fans kick in.

its not bad for your motor... Cooler is better (although TOO cool will hurt power a little, but the main problem is that running too cool starts forming MAJOR buildup inside your motor)

it's just the fact that it's hard to pass smog if your car is not getting up to temp.

Your EGR and AIR system as a whole work best when your motor is nice and hot.

You should have mounted a switch and asked the guy doing the smog to make sure it doesn't redline the temp gauge for ya.

I've been told that I need my lower air dam for the rad to get the full cooling it needs. Well mine broke off before I owned the car and I didn't think much of it. My car is low and if I put this back on I'm positive it's going to break off again. Question is, how the hell do I put this back on? I see where it goes but it attach's the the gfx it looks like under there and it's all broken apart, do I need new front gfx now just for this piece of **** to go back on? I'm so pissed at this car right now...you guys prolly have an idea...
