something at the back of my engine by the heater core is leaking coolant everytime i get the car up to temp. i THINK its the line going from right below the rad cap to the heater core.

earlier i popped the hood and although i cant see exactly what it is (its not spweing out, its just drip drip drip) i moved said hose and i heard it hiss some more. is their anyway i can just block off the heater core temporarily so that i quit losing coolant?

The line from the firewall to the radiator is the heater return line. If you follow the other line from the heater core (beginning at the firewall) back to where it meets the engine, you've got the source for the heater core. If you connect that to the return port on the radiator, it will effectively bypass your heater core.

thanks. i repalced the line (the big one) and it fixed it. so im good to go i guess.

however, is it normal for their to be a few drips of coolant in the passenger compartment when you remove this big line? like its not even a leak i saw on my floormat two little drips of coolant.

It probably came from somewhere else. If it got in the passenger compartment from the hose when you replaced it, or from a leak in the heater core, it would most likely run down the firewall/floor, and soak up into the carpet from underneath.

You didn't maybe have something inside your car those drops could have fallen from, did you?

Keep a close eye on the passenger side floorboard. When I had a leak at my heater core, it soaked into the carpet from underneath, and made a real nasty mess. It's definitely one of those things you want to catch right away.

yea i pulled up the matt and felt around and its dry. it looks like it dripped from the bottom of the dash and hit my floor matt where it like.. curves up and then it like.. rolled down to the flat spot.
