i think my water pump is bad

Well i was working on my iroc and fixed the idle problem it was having and while it was running i kept seeing a mist of coolant spraying all over my engine pay it looks like it was leaking somewere and hitting the belts causing it to fly up and splatter. It wasnt leaking from any hoses or the radiator. I looked under the car and there was a puddle of coolant right under the pulleys and my smog pump was covered in coolant. I have heard when a water pump is going bad coolant will leak out of the pump and cause this. So is my water pump shot?

It could be, watch for drips coming from the weep hole on the bottom of the pump.

A leaking hose or fitting, or a freeze plug.

its not a freeze plug because its coming from the front of the engine. The owner before the owner i bought it from said something about the water pump was junk so im pretty sure its the water pump just need alittle reinsurance.

Yeah, When the bearings in the pump go out of spec (wear out) it allows the pump to seep out coolant. Start the car and go under it, you can probably see the coolant seep out the little whole on the bottom of the pump. It is made to do this.
