Functional RAM AIR Box Carb/TBI - GT Fiberglass

I recieved the ram air setup. I am pleased with the chrome housing and accel element filter, but the functional air box looks like it was just put together without any test fitting. How does it go on? i mean there is only one way i put it over top of the radiator support and the only way it will stay up against the filter is if i put some pressure on it so its pressed against the filter, then it doesnt even reach the bolts. Can you shed some light, because there is no way this is going to fit, and where they cut for it to fit the housing, the top and bottom are not even equal to eachother both cuts are different so it leans towards one side of the filter more. Anyone get this setup from them? i am very dissapointed and i even waited 1 month and a half to get this.

here is what i got:

here is what it should look like installed:

I hope you didn't actually spend $175 on that.

yeah well from my understanding, it came with the chrome housing, the air filter, and the ram air box completely surrounds the filter so only cold air can get in the from the front in the ram air hood through the holes. I purchased the ram air hood from this company and they said this ram air setup would be a good investment as it is made to go with the hood. I got it and it looks like something i could made while i was taking a dump.

Maybe you should call them and ask what's up...looks like there is something missing, the part that surrounds the aircleaner. You could fab it up easily enough, just make a sheetmetal box that goes around the aircleaner and mates to the duct... or see if you can send it back, then do your own setup eg. put a pan under the ramair scoops with a hole for the aircleaner to poke into or for a gasketed stock type aircleaner fits to.

P.S. Nice car! How well does the hood fit? I've oten thought about it for my '91 Bird, but have heard they never fit right around the headlights. Yours looks fine, near as I can tell.

well i was just wondering how the breather would sit against the air filter, does it just press against it? if it does and i match up the holes the other end falls down. im tryin to get a hold of them they wont answer the phone, or respond to my emails.

the hood fits great, doesnt hit the head lights, i got it from this company!

Bottom line, if it doesn't work, it doesn't work...and you should be able to get a hold of them sooner or later. Do they sell the airbox for TPI? That can also be made to work with carb/TBI--all you do is use a carb hat which you can get on ebay for 25 bucks, then mate the tube to the TPI airbox, which mounts to the radiator, just another idea.

If you can't get the stuff to work with what they've given you, I would ship it back and either exchange for the TPI airbox, or just get your money back. Or, you can try and make the stuff you have work. Another idea I had, is to mount the sheetmetal air channel, or breather whatever you want to call it, to the underside of the hood, turn it upside down and bolt the flange to the hood...then add stuff of your own to further isolate the aircleaner. There are lots of ways to make your hood work, so you don't need to use that setup if you don't want to. Keep trying the company and see what they say. Good luck!

i was thinkin about bolting it to the underside of the hood, but it would exactly be a snug fit to the air filter, and i dont like the idea of putting holes in my hood, ha.

im still tryin to get a hold of them.
