Opinions on new cooling setup

Well I just orderd the Flex-a-lite 220 dual 12" cooling fans and their adjustable fan swtich (radiator probe). The single fan wasnt really doing the job and I was sick of my less than professional job at a manual fan switch. I was planing on modifying my current single fan shroud and if that didnt turn out just making my own. Ive heard the 220 fits pretty well, and should hopefully do the job at 2500 cfm. Just seeing if anyone had any opinons on these parts. Any imput is appreciated. Thanks.

Chris

That looks like a real nice set up you have, I bet it runs really good. Anyway do you have the stock radiator in it or have you already installed a nice alum unit yet? I am looking at a flexlite unit myself and have heard good things about them, so keep us posted to let us know how well it works...GOOD LUCK.

Thanks, it runs pretty nice just can get a little hot . Its a stock 305 radiator, but I think for now the radiator is just fine. Id like a nice Becool but my bank account is taking a beating. In the future if I find a way to make some more power I might upgrade to a better radiator.

Just did mine and am having issues with the cooling somewhat. Seems to run fine, but I did change the dynamics of the air flow a little. I had to remove the fan and rad shroud with the stock single fan. The new flexalite has its own seal around the fan which means the air only comes thru that area instead of thru a shroud which seems to be having an effect on the cooling. I havent quite figured it out yet. Changed the thermostat to a 160 from a 170 cuz I thought it was defective. Seemed to help a little. The fan barely fits side to side and doesnt quite cover the entire griffin rad. Dont know about a stock one tho. Hope this helps...

Would cutting slits in the areas that doesnt let air flow through do any good? I wish I would have heard something about this before, but I guess there arent a ton of people out there with this setup...

Here are some pics of the fans and the engine bay. I just finished it and its kinda rainy here so I dont know how well it will cool yet but seems to work well so far. Installed really nicely.

Well Im not sure if Im having a problem or what Im experiencing is normal or what. I have the fans to turn on at like 170* or so, and they do turn on at about that tempurature, but i am having two problems. One, The first time the engine warms up the temp goes way up to like 240* then it cools down to 170 or so and is fine for a while. But while I was driving it around for a while the thing would keep at around 220*...granted it was kinda slow driving and some traffic for an hour or so, but it was only like 80* out or something like that today. Shouldnt these fans be able to keep it cool at the desired temp of 180* or so? Once I get some speed up it will cool down some, so its not an airflow problem. It just seems like the fans are blowing kinda weak. Although I know they have a 60% feature, but still it doesnt seem to be doin too much more than my stock single fan. Any ideas, or is this completely normal?
