building an A/C setup from scratch, have a few ???
Im going to put A/C back into my car and I am gooing to make the system from scratch. I will be using R134 since it is widely used now. I have a few questions though:
what parts from a 4th gen A/C system will work in our cars?
What type of compressors do the 4th gens use? im looking for a sanden 508
My main goal is to build an A/C setup using as many OEM manufacturer parts as possible. Some are real cheap in the boneyards. I am running a new MArch serptinine setup so I have to use a Sanden compressor. I also ditched the stock wiring in the car so I have no A/C wiring at all except for the HVAC control panel. I still have my dual fans but the second fan is uselss rightnow and I will have to figure out how to get it to activate with the A/C being on. But mainly, Im just looking for ideas for a low cost A/C setup that uses r134

You wont be able to use anything from a 4th gen, the lines are completely diff, the box etc is all different.
You'll probably have to get a set of custom lines due to your march serp, you really would be a lot better off getting a new compressor, its one of the two parts in an a/c setup that would really make a difference in the longevity of your system being new. This would be a good time to get one of the newer more efficient "parallel flow" condensers since you need custom lines anyway.

Well, If you can find a Compressor that will work with the pulley set up. You will need the manifold from it also. You can get the lines made up for Around $80 from the manifold to the condenser and dryer. you will need one more from the condenser to the evap. Then you can get the universal condenser, Your dryer and evap will need to be 3'rd gen.
I would guess you could use a salvage yard parallel flow, since you will have lines made any way. If you do make sure its a good clean system. Those are HARD to clean. If it has had a major failure then they are considered junk.
