Freeze Plug or ?

Ok I was on my way home, made a quick stop for 10 mins while my car was idling. I heard a "pop" like a hose had blew and saw coolant draining from my car. So I walked over and turned it off. I noticed the coolant that shot up all over the engine was very coolto the touch, no heat at all, but yet my temp gauge and my radiator(touch) said otherwise. I got home and checked my hoses, my radiator was completely empty. I filled it back up and no leaks from my hoses, however alls I can see atm is its leaking from around my oil pan somewhere behind the block. I'll have to set it on ramps here soon to get a better look. Anyway it was suggested maybe a freeze plug. I sure hope its not a PITA to change. If anyone has any advice please, I'm listening.

Thanks in advance

It could be one of the freeze plugs on the back of the block. They're a bit of a pain to change, the transmission has to come out. Strange that it was cool to the touch though.

Was there a leak before? Sounds kind of weird for a freeze plug to just explode like that...

ok check this out after I made this post I went out and did a better inspection. I filled up my radiator and started it up to see where its leaking. Some line that come from the firewall area right behind the distributor cap, the hose came off a fitting. So i simply put it back on filled it back up and now its ok. I'm really at a lose for words on why it came off or what it even is.
Anyway its working again. Going to keep it parked till the weekend and pick with it some more. As always you guys are the best with replies! Thanks again

Sounds like one of the heater core hoses. Did you lose a hose clamp?
