signs of an intake gasket leak

I am in the middle of my motor swap, this is my first tpi, so bear with me.
I fired it up for the first time, and was playing with the enrichment settings on my EFI controller. Had it running for probably 5 minutes. I had just filled the cooling system. After I was done, I was looking the engine over and noticed I had quite a bit of coolant pooling around the passenger side injectors. Signs of a leaky intake gasket?

Also, I just thought of something else... I only get to work on the car every other week or so when i'm home forom college. The rest of the time, it sits. The radiator is full.... If it sits, will the oil be contaminated? The old oil had no signs of coolant, and neither does the oil that is in there now. I am just worried about the whole contents of the radiator draining into the oil. please advise!

One sign of an internal intake coolant leak will be water in the oil. Have you checked all of the possible external coolant leak sources, like hoses above the intake or blocks off locations if you have them? Watch the oil level and check the dip stick for droplets of coolant.

I just just changed to oil. No signs after a few days. Only a lot of coolant over the injector. Is it possible for it to just leak externally and not leak into the oil?

Yes. Or more likely, a leaky thermostat area. The waterneck part. I'd check that first, mine was bleeding coolant down and it puddled in a bolt groove area, making me think it was leaking up from the bolt hole. After a set of intake gaskets, I figured out the t-stat was leaking.

I just finished ripping my engine apart from an intake gasket leak! But I had a small chunk of gasket missin and got a pretty bad leak, had oil and antifreeze mixed badly. But gave me excuse to pull the engine and have it refreshened up, so I'm kinda excited it all happened. The intake gasket is pretty simple to get to and replace so definately look into that.

definitely sounds like your intake gaskets are leaking. Goodluck, let us know what happens.

theres a billion places to leak from that would cause puddling to occur on the intake
including

thermostat gasket leak(very common problem on chevy engines)

heater hose leak

and so on

if its not burning water and has no foam in the oil then the intake is fine

good luck
