Leaking Coolant Res.

I just picked up a really nice 87 camaro with less than 50,000 original on it. Only problem I have found is when i went to top off the overflow tank to the line it had on it, i noticed it was leaking pretty good from what looked like directly underneath the overflow tank. Could anyone suggest where I should look to have fixed?Does the connection from the tank to the hose that brings it into the radiator often leak or is there a gasket that could have just gotten old? Thanks in advance for any help!

Is it just the overflow tank that's leaking or the radiator? You can probably find a good used overflow tank, cap and rubber hose at the wrecking yard or purchase from a TGO supporter etc. They're cheap enough. If the radiator is leaking, they're not too expensive either. Way eaiser to replace than try to fix.

Good luck

As Wadebryant stated if the overflow tank is leaking it's an easy replacement. But check the hose that goes from it to the radiator. It could have a split from age and heat.If it's the tank itself take your old one with you if you go to a salvage yard because there are 2 different ones('82-'88 amd '89-'92).But it's better to buy a new one from one of the board sponsors.

thanks for the help amigo! from what i can logically make out, it looks to be dripping DIRECTLY beneath the res tank. So, going from what you said, it is most likely that hose going from underneath the tank into the radiator? I will def look underneath and see if that is in fact where it is coming from!

...ill keep u posted!

If I'm not mistaken GMPartsDirect.com has them for 9.99 plus shipping and these are the OEM parts from GM.... you can always double check at NewGMPartsDirect.com... that is another website that also sells OEM parts...
