new motor cooling?
im putting together a new 383..I have already install the thermostat and bolted down the water neck..
should I remove the thermo and stick a water hose in and fill the motor with water and then put the thermo back in? or just leave it and wait for the thermo to open and let water in from the radiator?
what should I do? any tips before firing this motor up?

Just go ahead and fill it through the rad. The lower rad hose is on the fill side, and it'll get the coolant into the block quickly enough.

so just leave it like I got...and dont fill the motor up? but the block is completely dry and empty......fill the raditor when I crank it the water pump will start to pull water from the radiator?
just out of curiosity? what is the circulation direction?

..ok will do..you promised!...LOL----------
hey..I also bypassed the heater valve..and took it out....I left the one hard line and ran it to the rad.....now, the other line goes to the fitting right by the water neck on the intake?
what about that piece of vaccum line that went to the valve? what do I do with that?

You can just plug the vacuum line.
This is on a TPI? You can route the heater hoses like they were on a non-A/C car.

is the motor broken in yet?? if not, how are you going to break it in?? drive it or park it??
if you are just going to drive it then happy driving.. if you are going to run it in the driveway for certain time, then i would suggest taking the thermostat out for that.. dont want that new motor broiling too hot..

this is on my HSR....why does it show the hose going into the throttle body on both? I though it went on the fitting on the intake?
and as far as breaking it in...Im going to do it in the driveway...I cant drive it yet till I get the exhaust on and tag the car..

The stock TPI circulates coolant through the throttle body to warm it. I doubt the HSR does that, so it'll go directly to the intake.
Don't worry about removing the thermostat.
The first time you run it, let it warm up to normal operating temperature with the radiator cap removed, and keep adding coolant as necessary. When it reaches normal operating temperature, put the cap on and add coolant to the recovery tank.
