Catch Can Question
Looking for a cheap catch can to hide away in front of the radiator and get rid of the ugly stock overflow tank.
What is stopping THIS catch can from recirculating? Seems that the fluid could simply be sucked back from one of the fittings.
Compared to THIS. They look like they operate exactly the same, yet one is recirculating and one is not?
Basically I want something that will act JUST like the stock overflow tank, not something that will just catch the fluid and have it sit there till I drain it myself....its a daily driver.

Re: Catch Can Question
I did also. When i first mounted it i forgot about the recirculating part. So i just mounted it upsidedown and it works fine. Only thing, there is a small breather hole drilled into where the fitting where the hose goes. I plugged it with RTV, and now i use the drain petcock to vent.

Re: Catch Can Question
you dont have to have one at all, just a longer hose down along the radiator enough to clear past the bottom of the rad support a little so when it ever vents then it will do so under the car
good luck
good luck

Re: Catch Can Question
Steve-0, which way did you mount it, in relation to the picture on JEGs website? You have me a tad confused.

Re: Catch Can Question
Flip it around, so the hose is coming off from the bottom.
Side note though, i love this jug, its completely hidden and works like stock. I will grab some pictures of it installed when i get my car this weekend.

Re: Catch Can Question
Why couldn't you just keep it the way it is and attach a hose to the bottom?
Oh and does it come with mounting hardware? If not, I can just fab up my own.

Re: Catch Can Question
Because one is a hose fitting the other fitting is a drain valve petcock. No mounting hardware came with mine. I think the bolt hole sizes were 3/8 by 16, i had some laying around.

My bad...i just looked at your link i got the normal catch can not the recirculating one that you posted.

Re: Catch Can Question
[QUOTE=GuitarJunki17;3290448]Ummm...yeahhhh, see the reason I am getting a catch can is because I did this when I did the carb swap, and everytime I shut the car off after more than 20 minutes of running, it "vents" all over my driveway, causing me to have to refill it all the time.
QUOTE]
When you fill the radiator to the top it will vent as it heats up. This is normal, and when it heats up again the radiator will be full. Full cold is overfilled hot. It used to be this way before the overflow bottles became standard.

Re: Catch Can Question
[QUOTE=Ice Fisherman;3291704] Is your cooling system pressurizing? It should be dripping out as it warms up, not when it shuts off. I wonder if your radiator cap is bad.

Re: Catch Can Question
Na it's a new cap. The fact that it was overflowing just made me uneasy, and I still have to get a temp sensor back on the intake because I have no clue as to how hot she is running.
I am in the process of tuning the carburetor, so alot of the running of the car is being done at idle in park...no wind blowing through the radiator. Now, while I have the fan rigged up to come on manually, it doesnt keep it cool on a hot day like last weekend (approaching 80*), also, it is just one fan, I bought the car and found out later that one fan was missing. Thinking of doing the 3.8 SHO fan swap.
