Re: fan problems

That thing stuck in the radiator may be a temp probe, It tels the fan to come on at a set temp.

So you are saying that if you bridge the probe it will turn both of the fans on or just the secondary one?
The probe may be faulty or just set at a real high temp.
How hot is the car getting?

For a quick fix bridge the two wires coming out of the probe togeather and that will engage the fan/fans when you turn the ignition on. (I think)
Only if you realy need the second fan, If it is not getting real hot just run one.

Re: fan problems

ok it may have blown a relay, to test thoes two relays swap them over.
If the secondary fan starts to work but the primary dose not then it is a relay that is youre problem.

Now unplug a relay if one fan still runs then you have the dead relay in youre hands, IF once you dissconected one relay and both fans are not working you are holding the good relay.

Just thought id ask what AMP are the relays?
I wouldent use anything less than 20/25A preferably a 30A for thermo fans.

check to make sure you are getting 12 volts to the fan when warmed up if so bad motor if not wiring fault

Re: fan problems

multimeter, they are like $8 at a auto store.
the person working will be able to tell you how to use it, it is kind of hard to explane it without showing you.
