What's the best refrigeration system flush?
What's the best thing to flush your A/C system with?
I've heard rubbing alcohol, mineral spirits, liquor thinner, benzene, that stuff they sell in a can for $12 / quart called A/C flush… Anyone know the real answer?
Thanks!
Matt

I wouldn't put anything corrosive or flammable (benzene, etc.) through your lines. The liquid stuff in the bottle is best. You will need a flush gun and compressed air to use it. I rented a flush gun from AutoZone to do mine last year. Also, not sure if you know or not, but don't run any flush through a compressor or accumulator (it will saturate the dessicant bag). It's only for the lines, evaporator and condensor (if it's a serial flow condensor).
If you don't have air, I think AutoZone sells flush in an aerosol can, but I would be cautious of what sort of propellant is used in that can. It may be fine but just check to be sure before using it.

Borrowed a flush gun and bought the dedicated A/C Flush.
Which by the way says "DANGER -- Extremely combustable Liquid!" right on the front.
Wouldn't most quick drying solvents be flamable...
Thanks for convincing me to get the real deal stuff though, works pretty well.
