Air not blowing from vents

1991 Firebird, 3.1 V6. The AC does not work, but that is probably a freon leak somewhere. (good time to convert) The compressor kicks on, but AC, heat, or just vent does not blow from the front vents, or the floor. Just by the windshield. The defrosters work, mostly. Where do I need to start looking?

Start by checking the vacuum line under the hood. If you have a vacuum diagram under your hood it will have a section that says "TO HVAC". This provides the dash with manifold vacuum to operate. Defrost is the default setting for safety purposes. There should also be a check valve inline with the line coming off the intake.

You might want to the cooling board for vacuum diagram. You should find a few good diagrams showing all the vacuum connections for the heat/cool controls regarding the air flow.
