Remove my A/C !need help!
Hi, I removed my compressor of conditioned air today because it was not functional any more (the strap was already removed) and I wanted to know what to do with the rubber pipes and wires (as you can see ine the pics below) according to those which are encircled in yellow connected together same thing for the red circles.

Re: Remove my A/C !need help!
Tuck/hide/tape the wires & plugs away, and remove the aluminum canister + the radiator in the heater box + the frontmost radiator in the grille. All that was connected to the compressor is unneccessary now and can be removed.

Re: Remove my A/C !need help!
if I remove these parts, my heating will still function? because I just want to remove my a/c, not all my heating system.
I thought that I had that there was a means of by pass them (rubber pipes)

those two extra "radiators" you mentioned are called the evaporator and condenser in the order you mentioned them.

Re: Remove my A/C !need help!
Heater will still work. In the heater box you'll find two radiators. One carries hot water and the other carried A/C fluid (and is called an evaporator). You can remove it or let it be, it doesn't matter for the function. Just plug the holes where the pipes came through the box if you remove it.
The reason most people remove the compressor etc. is to clean up the engine bay. I believe so-called A/C-delete kits are available. They would contain a non-A/C heater box and -control panel.
In the front you also find two radiators. The front was for the A/C (and is called a condenser) and the rear is the ordinary water-carrying cooler radiator.
There is no more A/C fluid remaining in the system now to be bypassed. Not that it would do any good without the compressor in place anyway. Did it hiss, spray and fog when you took it apart? If not then it was empty already.
If you don't feel like removing the rest then I don't understand why you removed the compressor, but you can just put plastic caps on the open pipes and be done.

Thank you very much,
no, nothing hiss spray and fog...it was already empty.
I removed just because I was bored to see it aging under my hood

Re: Remove my A/C !need help!
Ok, each to his own liking. I would've wanted to try to restore it to working order, but if you never need it where you live then it's just an unneccessary expense.
It will tidy up the bay a lot even if you just remove the aluminum canister (receiver/ dryer) and then cap the open pipe ends of the radiators. If you don't throw away the compressor you can cap the pipes of it too so it could be overhauled and installed at a later date. There's oil in it btw. The canister would have to be replaced in an A/C rebuild anyway though.
If you have a clutch mechanical fan then it's a heavy duty type due to the A/C. It can be replaced with a standard duty now to get a quieter ride that don't pull so much dust into the engine bay. If it's electric then it doesn't matter.

Ok, just remove the aluminum canister if you wish and put some tape over all the pipe ends, that'll suffice.
Re: Remove my A/C !need help!
So long as it's just the ac and you have no intention of hooking it back up, you don't need to plug anything. If your not going to hook it back up, what does it matter that dirt/dust/water gets in it?

Re: Remove my A/C !need help!
Hello, I am trying to clean up my engine bay and since my AC does not work and most of the components were removed except the canister and the box attached to the firewall. I did a search to see how to do this, and I came across this thread. And so far it was very helpful.
I wanted to know about the wires that are plugged into the AC box, if I removed the canister and the box from the firewall the wires in the pic that I have circled would not be connected. Do those need to be connected for the heater to still work? Right now I still would like the use of the heater and defroster. Is there any thing else that I need to be aware of before removing the box. I saw an article about making your own AC delelte box and was thinking about making one of them or can I just bolt a plate to cover the holes that would be left from the AC box?
This is not a pic from my car, I have not yet downloaded the pics from my camera. I will do that in the next day or so.
Any help would be very appreciated!

Re: Remove my A/C !need help!
keep all the wires until the time you have finished because there's only one set of wires that you can cut and tape, those that were attach to the aluminium canister, the others one must be plug into your new a/c delete box.
the wires that you have circled in red will fit directly in the a/c delete box like this one: http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r...5/untitled.jpg

When you removed the old AC box do those wires just pass through the old box and then just plug them back in when the delete box is installed? Were there any other wires that I would need to worry about other than the ones that I had circled?

thanks for your compliment.
I didn't make it, I bought it from I guy but you can easily buy one at a srapyard or on ebay like this one http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/82-92...yphotohostingà
yes for you first question and for you're second, yes, the one who are connected to the little relay box. In other words the only one that you can cut is the one as on your pic, those that are connected to the aluminium canister (those which touch your red circle)

Can you answer me another question...
Is the heater box and the AC box 2 pieces that are fitted together? I ask this becuase I was thinking if I could not get a non-ac box (that is one piece right) I was wondering if I could just put back the heater box (with the fan) and then make a plate and cover the hole except where I need to connect the wires to the relay box.

Re: Remove my A/C !need help!
I guess you talk about his box part:
http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r...sher305/gh.jpg
the stock a/c box contain one part but divided in two part and the a/c delete box is one piece and it will fit in place (with the fan) without any modification.
the best way is to do what did, it look bone stock

I think you are right that the best way would be to do it the way you did it. But I am on a super tight budget, so if I cant get that one off of ebay cheap (hopefully not alot of people see this thread or are looking for one on ebay) but that is why I am thinking about modifying what I have.
Again thanks for replying to me with your pics and experience. I thought it looked like separate pieces.
I took your pic and I have another question. Is the piece that I have circled red easy to remove?

there is 3 screws that retains it by the interior (off course the passenger side) you have to remove the plastic cover ( 3 srews) and then, if you pull a little bit the carpet at the bottom, you will see the screws that you have to remove
its a pleasure for me to answer you

I cant thank you enough. You have been such a great help.
Thanks for the tip about the screws in the interior, that would have boggled my mind for a long time. If you have any other suggestions or tips that you think might help, I would love to read them.

no problem, it was a pleasure for me to help you. while I think of it there is 2 srews by the interior, the other is in the engine bay just beside the rubber pipe of your heater core connected to the fire wall.
good luck with your work, post some pics when its done!
