car still runs hot

i have a 1986 z 28 in nv replaced hoses stat cap and coolant radiator still good but car still runs too hot any advice

Not sure if the Camaro's are subject to the same issue but had the same problem. temp would drop a bit after sitting at idle for a while, then heat up soon as I got on the highway. turned out to be an airdam under the rad was pretty screwed up, replaced it and all is good.

Yes, the air dam is a must,these are "bottom Feeders." But some people don't know that these cars in stock form run a bit hot. I've even seen where they say, "My car reached 220* it's running hot." 220* TO 230* is not running hot.

220 is operating temp...when it starts to near 240 is when you pull over and let it cycle...

have you checked your thermostat to see if its stuck closed and not cycling coolant?

is it the original radiator? after so long they become rusted and build up gunk, which can hinder the cooling effect in the coils...

also, are you using straight coolant or a diluted mixture of around 50/50 coolant to water?

just some ideas.

the radiator is stock 50/50 coolant new stat should i go ahead and throw in new radiator and if so what would be a good one and what about fan switch temp sensor etc

240 250 sometimes close to red
