I'm working on my nephews camaro and was gunna fix the air but not sure where the orifice tube is at. Anybody know for sure? I did remove a line back by the firewall and it looks to have some plastic thing in the line but it won't full out. Would this be it?

 

The smaller line where it goes into the AC box on the firewall. Have to pull it out with pliers usually and pay close attention to how it's oriented. I've always thought it looks backwards when it's in right.

 

ok I thought that was it. I pulled and pulled on that thing but it won't come out. I'm guessing there is an o ring that is stuck.

 

so has anybody had this tube be stuck? I'm afraid I'm gunna break it from pulling so hard on it.

 

Grab it with some needlenose pliers and turn it and pull and it should come out . Thats what I have always done even working at a shop .

Yes it should have two o-rings on it IIRC .

 

I have this same problem. I pulled on it so hard i thought it would break and it still doesn't come out. btw, it did start to fall apart and now the front half of it is broken off and it is still stuck in there. how the **** do i get this out????? I'm afraid of pull on whats left of it and having that break and then i will never get it out.
also the replacement one i have only has one o-ring and it was from an ac shop that knows what there doing.

Haven't used it. But it looks like it would do the trick.

 

would a small tap work to get it out maybe?? or heat it up?

 

I still haven't got mine out. It started to pull apart.

 

Update: I had to bring mine to a ac shop and they got it out with a special tool for $40. They should just slide right out, they said it wasn't coming out because the fitting got twisted when I took it off( it was very corroded and I was careful to not bend it but it moved a little bit and that did it. So I talked to another ac guy and he said to use drill bits by hand and have a vacuum on it to remove the burs, and it worked really good. I found out now though that my compressor leaks around the shell so its not gonna work for to long.

A new compressor is like $250 but with that i could get some sfc's. So I guess I will be driving with the t-tops off.

 

Do you have a serp belt system or v- belts? I accidentally got a v-belt equipped compressor a while ago. love to get it out of the garage.

You guys might want to check with autozone. See if they have an orifice remover in their loan a tool program. Can't hurt.
