i cant think of the name for this could someone tell me the name of what I'm holding so i can price it

That would be a heater control valve, I believe.

it is definitely it. pepboys 12.00 - i go through them all the time. im about to just eliminate it. cheap piece of plastic that is aways breaking.

I just eliminated the entire HVAC system all together I believe some older GM and Ford vehicles had steel units. It shouldn't be anything to retrofit.
