Dunno what it is....

OK quick background. I got a 87 Z28 (305 4bbl) I bought last year. Well this year the tranny blew so I replaced it. I also had to replace the flex plate and guess what I found? The original motor this isn't lol. I got it nailed down to a 80-85 305 (block numbers). Now heres my question....

On the thermostat housing there are 2 "sensors" One is just an electrical connection, the other has an electrical connection with a vacuum hose top and a spring in the core of it. The one with the vacuum broke in half on me so im curious as to what this actually is. Heck Id be VERY happy to find out what they BOTH do, but ill settle for replacing the broken one lol.

I can upload a picture of the broken off piece if needed.

The air intake cover says Turbo-Fire 175 hp but theres no telling if that was part of this motor or not :P

EFE valve, which can be seen between the exhaust manifold and the Y-pipe.

No. Many people eliminate it when they switch to headers. My guess is that it's probably frozen open anyway.

The other one is the coolant temperature sensor for the ECM.

The EFE was mainly for emissions and cold driveability. You'll be lucky if it's stuck fully open.
