the shining brass of GM

ok so i have an 88 lo3 that has three brass sensors , one wich is located on the intake manifold wich is the coolan temp sensor "CTS" and another on the passenger's side of the engine wich is the cooling fan switch "CFS" and then theres anothere one on the driver's side of the engine . what sensor is this , it has a green/white stripe wire leading to it , what is this brass sensor for ? and what are the purposes of the brass sensors on the intake manifold and drivers side of the engine?

haha iv been bashed on here before for not knowing about the third sensor (the one that turns on the fan) cuz i always thought it was just the cts in the intake manifold that controlled that as well as its other functions. (iv learned something on here lol) but back to your question, that other sensor your talking about is the one to you gauage. unplug it and see if your guage shuts off or sumthing.

The pass side sensor turns on the fan - that's it. The intake sensor gives coolant temp info to the ECM - that's it. The driver sensor feeds coolant temp to the guage - that's it. Three sensors all sensing coolany temps for three seperate purposes.

that COULD make it still run, if one or two happend to be crossed, BUT you would deffinetly know if they were crossed while its running. itll pop and bang and run terrible IF itll run at all, like i said.

Re: the shining brass of GM

I have a 95 camaro that my stepdad changed all the plugs and wires on a couple years back and when I drove the car for a year or so after that. When I changed them back I found out he had the firing order completely backwards, but it did still run it just got TERRIBLE gas mileage.
