No cooling fan and coolant eruption

Hey guys I have trouble. Fixing up an 86 Firebird 305 w/4bbl. First thing I noticed was coolant blowing back into the reservoir violently and coming through the cap.I then noticed the fan not running. I thought it was grtting too hot so to get by I ran a switched lead to the fan so it runs with the ignition on but it didn't fix the problem. I had the radiator flushed and replaced the cap. Don't know yet if I've fixed the coolant eruption yet but found out that my temp. light doesn't come on when I start the car like it should and I've changed the bulb. Anybody got an idea what is causing my fan not to work and do you think I've fixed my reservoir blow back. Thanks for your help and sorry for the long description.

Re: No cooling fan and coolant eruption

I don't know about the fan problem but I did have a problem with the coolant blowing back out of the reservoir and turned out to be a stuck thermostat ( stuck in a closed position) that caused it to overheat.

Car Is A Watershow As A Bonus

Your bulb test circuit has an open.

Trace it from the BULB TEST contact in the ignition switch thru where it goes into the dash.

Does the coolant start gushing right away or does it have to warm up?

It has to heat up first. You're right about the watershow, I'm considering putting colored lights around it and adding a soundtrack...
