how to make a cold air intake

I was just wondering what is involed with making a cold air intake? I have a 1983 z-28 camaro with a 305. I have after market headers and a edelbrock carb. Not sure if any of this matters. Don't know if i could build one with the parts i have in my car. Any tips and help would be great. Thanks

Try this thread. It is the one I used back in 2005 and my car has NEVER run hot. I am very happy with the results and it looks sharp too.

Your profile says you have a 305 HO engine, so you should have a dual-snorkel air intake with two fat scoops/ducts running from behind the headlights to the air cleaner, right? If so, that's probably already feeding you more air than any "cold air intake" you could replace it with. It's one of the best you can get, and it's also very hard-to-find and much-sought-after. That, alone, would make it worth hanging onto, but along with it being able to supply A LOT of air, all fresh and "cold," because it's coming in through a large opening over the headlights, you're already good-to-go, so I wouldn't change a thing.
