Can't locate fan switch???
I have a 86 Iroc 305/tpi w/a/c....Ive looked all over for fan switch. Other threads have stated that it is between plugs 6 & 8 on pass side under heat shroud. That space is plugged. It's a single fan set up, so can someone tell me where this damn fan switch is??????????? Was just reading something and wondering if this could be true, some 86's the fan gets power from relay and " turn on " signal from ecm??? True??

Mine was wired to the ECM originally I believe. It was disconnected and rigged to run constantly but the ecm wire was there. I later reconnected it and lowered the stock fan temp in the PROM.

Re: Can't locate fan switch???
You don't have a fan switch per say on your car. There is a temp sensor in the manifold for the ECM, and the ecm as well as the AC controls and AC pressure switch control that one fan.
the Dual Fan Cars had a fan control temp switch between Cyl 6 and 8 to control the pass side fan.

Change Thermostat and have the ECM programmed for a lower on/off temp, otherwise you will have to re-wire your fan system and add in a fan switch at the temp you want.

If you have the single fan setup, it is not computer controlled. Go to the technical articles section on this site, down to electrical, and then click on the single fan article and it will explain everything you want to know. Have fun and happy cooling!

Mine was setup for ecm control originally with no switch. I bet if he traced the wires off his relay he would find the same thing.

Yeah, you're probably right. I had thought all single fans worked the same way but it's starting to look like that's not the case. . TBI's yes, but apparently not TPI's. or at least not all. I apologize
