Is it Odd 4 Both Fans to Die at the Same Time? Best Replacement Reccomendations

First hot day out with my car. Ran good for about 20 minutes then started running hot. Got back home and started trouble shooting per the service manual.

Relay good, the fans are getting juice.............. they are just dead. They are original so I guess I cant get upset a them. I just find it strange that they die at the same time.

I plan to beef up my cooling system with 3 row Rad, engine oil cooler, and trans cooler so whats the best fans to put on here since I need to repalce these. I dont want to spend a ton of money on all of this so with that in mind Im looking for suggestions.

I initially figured to buy 8" fans to put on the engine and trans coolers but now maybe Ill just mount them in front of the Rad and get a really good pulling fan.

Any thoughts?

By running hot, what do you mean? Mine runs up to 220 degrees all the time and with a stock cooling fan on your radiator the first fan isn't suppose to turn on until 227 degrees, and the second fan won't turn on till about 238 degrees or something like that (it's in the owners manual).

Real hot, I had maybe 3 traffic lights and a stop by the bank. Temp ran up between 220 and 260 while at the light.

I ended up turning the car off at the teller window because it headed for 260. When crusing it did fine. It got down around 220 or maybe a needle width below 220. Anytime I stoped it moved right up between 230-260.

My fans were dead. The only flow across the radiator was from me driving down the road.

How good are LS fans from a 4th Gen T/A?

Been reading 1992-95 Taurus fans are good too. Ive noticed they actually are 2 spd fans.

No they dont work at all. For instance when I got home I pulled under the carport and cut the car off and it shot to 260. Then I crank it up to move it around on the other driveway where its easier to work on and it stayed in the red. I was actually really getting nervous that I was going to screw something up. The car should not be that hot.

After I went through the service manual flow charts I pulled the fans off of the car and hot wired them to the battery with little alligator clips and the drivers side moved a little and then gave a puff of smoke the passenger side did nothing when pwr was sent to it. These boys are dead. May they RIP. For the heck of it I put in a new relay and just what I expected I got nothing.

have you fan 12 volt to them to see if they work at all? this happened to me last year first time I drove my car, and it got super hot, and fans weren't turning on after hours of probing I finally found that the ground for the wires had shorted out in the big square connector for the fans so just rewired that, and has worked like a charm since then

I agree with the ground theory. If they have a common ground neither will work. When you put a meter on them to check for voltage, you supply a ground so all looks good.
