cooling fan wiring??

i recently bought a 91 camaro rs V6
the motor fan was being powered off the blower motor connector. i went ahead and changed that and put the connector back to the motor. found the black and red wire off the cooling fan relay, found continuity and reconnected those 2 wires but fan still not working. there is a swite i belive off the radiator, im wondering if that needs to be connected to what and where? if anyone has a diagram or tell me how excalty that fan should be hooked up that would be great

There’s no switch off the radiator on that car.

With the key in the RUN position, ground the green/white wire on pin F at the fan relay.

Does the fan run?

Re: The Kool Rool

'91 v6 fan is ECM controlled.

*edit.... looking closer, I'm not sure wtf that is. That's the return spout for the heater core with some kind of sensor shoved in it.

Proper wiring diagram attached.

Re: The Kool Rool

The relay should be located on a bracket, next to the brake booster

Re: cooling fan wiring??

if it starts good and drops over 'x' time, the oil gauge sender may be the issue (unless replaced already).

Re: cooling fan wiring??

i thought it might be that. but once the gauge would get to zero the car would die. and start knocking. then after a few hours it would start up again and knock for about a second and then stop and the pressure was normal. when i pulled the pan though there was alot of stuff plugged up in the pick up screen and alot of crap in the pan. im hopin none of it is in the motor plugging things up

Re: cooling fan wiring??

i connected the hot (red wire) to the fan wire (red and black) at the connector and the fan ran. the relay is new. is it on a delay of some sort? i know D and F pin need to be enegized to close the fan switch. all my fuses have been checked and all are good now.

It’s not on a time delay, but it is turned on by the ECM VIA a temp sensor.

The ECM turns on the fan about 220°.
