Should this Fan Thermostat work well?

Would THIS fan Thermostat work with our temps being that it opens at 185 and shuts off at 170?

Re: Should this fan switch work well?

I thought for a minute that there was no switch, but that small black box that's in line appears to be it.
I'm sorry I'm not sure if it will work for your particular set up . I'm going to be a interested bystander.

Are you running a stock ecm? It would work but the thing is, the cars came from the factory designed to run hot. Basically just for all the emissions crap.
If the car is stock, and you want to make it run cooler, then I would use a hypertech fan switch and also get the ecm chip they sell. They claim it improves horsepower but i doubt it. It will however let you run cooler, with that you could also run a 160* thermostat.

Is this the switch you are referring to?

Re: Should this Fan Thermostat work well?

Sorry forgot to mention Im running a carbed sbc,so no ecm. I would like to try to avoid any switches/thermostat that would screw into the head since one head has a plug that is stripped and the other head a sensor type deal in there that is stripped.

For ease of installation, that why I was looking for the probe type.

This is what I'm using on all my cars, works well (relay switched fans)

I do not get why people would want to use a stick in core probe type setup w/a bunch of wires if you can use a factory hole in the head and have a factory like solution that is bulletproof and not jerry rigged.

What temp would be a good turn on point for a carbed sbc?

How much coolant would I lose if I removed the sensor on the head?

Are the probe style ones really that bad?

Re: Should this Fan Thermostat work well?

180-190 is a good temp imo

It's not that the probe is bad, it works and it's simple. You simply stick the probe in the core net to the hot water inlet (upper hose). however you have a hole for a simple switch in the head, why go w/ an aftermarket/non oem solution when you can do it the oem way and it'll look much cleaner w/ proven quality parts.
