Delete Heater Control Valve!

I would like to remove Heater control valve, because it's broken and also, I'll remove A/C so realise that don't need HCV. As I can see in manual, first picture below show Heater hoses on my engine L98 with A/C, and second picture show Heater hoses on non A/C engine. Conclusion is that when remove HCV, only thing that I need to do is plug bottom hose, remove one hose (which connect HCV and bottom hose), and connect Heater from cabin to TPI/manifold?

In other words, I just need to reroute hoses to look like those on second picture?

Will I have heat controls after this action, precisely, will I have funnctional defroster (I know that all the time hot water will flow through heater in cabin)?

Thank You all in advance.

Best regards!

Re: Delete Heater Control Valve!

I apologize if this isn't any help, but why not just replace the heater control valve? Seems like it would be much less of a hassle than just gutting the A/C system. To answer your question about defrost - it will work (like, heat coming out of the defroster vents). However, it will not be as efficient if you remove A/C because A/C removes moisture from the incoming air when in defrost mode. Even if the blend control is on hot.

That's because I don't need A/C, and want to remove all "unnecessary" things from engine bay as A/C, smog system, Heater control valve, vapor canister (I'll put LPG-Liquefied Petroleum Gas system in car), so that's the reason

Re: Delete Heater Control Valve!

GM engineers didn't seem to think those things were "unnecessary" but I digress... good luck!

Re: Delete Heater Control Valve!

It's irellevant, in my country petrol is so expensive, so I'll invest in LPG which is hundred times "cleaner" than petrol and I don't need air pump, A/C, Heater control valve, vapor canister...

Please' let's back on my basic question

Yes,you can do it like the 2nd pic by rerouting the hoses.Just make sure you plug the vacuum line going to it.I`ve done it,its not a big deal

Either to the water pump, or to the same place on the radiator.

Re: Delete Heater Control Valve!

no need to go searching for a plug anywhere. all the ports you need are there, just need to clear things up

the heater core fitting closest to the passenger side needs to be route to the intake right near the throttle body and route the other heater core line to the radiator. if you keep the metal line thats on the frame rail now, you'll need to cap the center port off.

Re: Delete Heater Control Valve!

Just doing this now, looks like 3/4 hose from drivers side firewall, and 5/8 for firewall to intake port, any need to plug the now empty ports on throttle body?
