Have you made sure the fan even works with straight +12v ?

It (the fan) should run if you unplug the switch on your (pass side frame rail) A/C line or, if you jump the A-B terms on the ALDL plug.

The circuit is fairly simple...

Test the tan/white for +12v Key on. If good,
backprobe the green/white wire and ground, key on.
The relay should switch and fan should run.

I believe it should be on a fusible link, on the battery lug, at the starter.

Re: 1985 iroc fan not coming on

The main battery cable should have had a wire like that going to the lug on the back of the alternator.

The switch with the blue/blk wire on it is what sends the A/C request. The other wiring is for the compressor clutch.

When you unplug the blue/blk switch, the circuit is now open (normally closed) and the ECM should ground the fan relay (key on).

Re: 1985 iroc fan not coming on

there was a smaller wire other then the one that goes to the alternator. connecting the wire through seems to have fixed it. i have always wondered about that wire i just hate connecting wires that look like they have burned open....stay tuned .
