Re: overflow jug

depends on where the hole is. if it is near the bottom then it will leak coolant. and when the coolant expands when hot it will leak out. and when the radiator needs it back it will not be there. will take a while but yes eventually will unless you stay on top of it.

Re: overflow jug

water/coolant is like air , it expands when its hot . it goes into overflow tank , when eng. & radiator cools it is drawn back into radiator . if it is not drawn back in , yes it will overheat . i suspect you may have other problems . a little more info. maybe i/we can help you more . good luck .

Re: overflow jug

the cap on the overflow is open/vented, and needs to be, so there is already a hole there. without a vented overflow, the cooling system will build and not be able to relieve pressure. It will pushout waterpump gaskets and freeze plugs. I went through this a year or so back

you have other issues

nope, won't be a problem.

take a look, you will notice the overflow cap is vented.

Re: overflow jug

I would not chance it. I would buy a new or used one. My over flow tank boils but never over flows. But with a hole in it I think you might have trouble.

Re: overflow jug

If your overflow tank boils all the time, your car is running to hot...
