where can i buy a stock replacement heater core for an 87 gta ?Aftermarket ones body to wide to fit in the strap ! Thanks James

I used one from Autozone when I replaced mine without issues.

i ran into this problem with a delco replacement one. the metal clips would not fit on it.

Your installing it wrong !
You have to slide the end (opposite the pipes) into the heater box first and slide it back inside the box then push the pipe end in place.
Trying to put the pipe side end in first doesn't allow the other side to mount back inside the heater box all the way.
I had the same issue when I replaced my heater core and thought it was too big (even though it was the SAME size as the factory core).
I was just doing it wrong!

some (I think most) of the aftermarket replacement ones have a slightly different oversized end tank design. the straps he's referring to are the ones on the cover. I left mine off when I did mine - its really not going to be moving around enough for me to worry about it. If you're worried, you can always use a little foam weatherstripping (like you use on your house doors/windows) to stop it from touching the sides of the box. Yeah it stinks, but sometimes its not worth worrying about. Lots of other things to tinker with anyway!

up date ! found one at pep boys. aluminum. pretty dm close to oem fits perfect. with strap on an the v clip .
