engine coolant leak and acting weird
i have a problem with my cooling system it will bubble when i have the recovery tank full and the motor is off after driving for a while then if u start the motor back up the bubbling will stop, my father had the same problem on his old truck and it turned out to just be a hose what does everyone else think it might be?

Check your radiator cap, thermostat, if you have an electric fan make sure its running after engine warms up. check to see if you water pump is working ( take of radiator cap with car off and cool, start up car. see if water is running in the radiator right under the cap)

Replace the cap anyway, then worry if you're still losing fluid.

If your losing fluid at a steady rate, then you should check your oil and see if any of it is thinning out or starting to look creamy. there is a possibility that you blew a head gasket from overheating to much. other than that, check your water pump. take a flashlight and look behind the water pump on the harmonic balancer and see if you see moisture. then check where the water pump is connected to the block and look for moisture around the bolts and gaskets connected to the block. Check the lower radiator hose going to the water pump, go under the front of the car and look at the bottom of the hose and look for water drops. If you have done all that and you still cant find a leak then check your water reservoir, look for any cracks or anything else. there cheap plastic and crack easily when they have been heated up a few times. check your hose clamps on everything, on the upper radiator hose connected to the radiator look under the hose where it is clamped for water drops. If your still not able to find anything let me know. If you locate the leak let me know as well and ill tell you the quickest way to fix it.

If you changed the radiator cap and checked all those places and can't find any leaks then the coolant might be bubbling out of the reservoir as you drive. You'll need a new radiator because the seal inside the neck where the cap screws on is wore out. That's what happened to me.

the car hasnt overheated either. i dont have a air dam cause the guy before me hit something with the air dam like a speed bump or something couldthis be the problem? and it doesnt do it when the car is running it just does it when its hot and turned off.

Yes, you need the air dam on these cars. Without it you'll overheat and cook them. The bubbling you're probably hearing is the coolant boiling or air trapped in the system. Who knows if your temperature gauge is accurate.

alright well i will try and get one or even custom build one for better effeciency
Re: engine coolant leak and acting weird
I have a similar problem , I over heated and found out i lost all the water from a leak directly under the water pump around the timing cover area, so I replaced the water pump today and the leak is still there, it leaks even without the engine running. I can't see any water or moisture on top from hoses or thermostat or around the connections of the new pump.I checked the back plate on the pump and made sure they were tight before i put the new pump on also. what could it be i'm going crazy !
