Clutch fan question
I am sure this is a dumb question, but I have to ask. With clutch fans, the fan blades bend. Are they supposed to bend into the or away from the air. I am not talking about the flexing of the blades, just the factory bend. My 84 has one and the tips of the blades are curved. From the driver's seat it turns clockwise, but the tips are bent counter clockwise. I would think it would pull more air the other way. If the tips were bent futher clockwise, it would catch more air, I think.
Any knowledge about this would help.

Re: Clutch fan question
From the driver seat the fan should be turning counter-clockwise. If you're standing in front of the engine looking at it, then it's going clockwise. The tips should be curved toward the front of the car. They are pulling air through the radiator and blowing rearward. It's most likely always been that way unless someone put the fan on backwards, which I guess is entirely possible

Re: Clutch fan question
You are right, it does turn counter clockwise. But the tips look as if they have been bent by the air. I know they are stamped that way, but explain curved towards the front of the car. Should the tips preceede the blades or follow the blades?

Re: Clutch fan question
I really don't know much about the complexity of the design or anything, just that when I changed the fan clutch on an older Chevy van with a 5.7 I have, I noticed that the tips of the fan blades curved downward as I bolted the fan onto the clutch on the ground, so they would be facing forward when installed. That's everything I know, fan should be the same on your car I guess

Great, thats what I needed. I think my fan blade was installed backwards.

Re: Clutch fan question
You'll know when it's right, the fan is pulling air through the radiator toward the engine and not the other way
