ACDelco Cooling Sensors
Hi,
I was looking to replace my old cooling temp sensor with a new ACDelco one. When i looked up the part, both of these popped up:
SENSOR ASM,ENG COOL TEMP
Part Number: 213-4396
Product Notes:
Coolant Temperature Sensor
Per Vehicle: 1; Years: 1991-1992
SENSOR,ENG COOL TEMP
Part Number: 213-928
Product Notes:
Engine Cool Temp Sensor
At int manif; Interfaces w/ecm; 4-Speed Auto Trans (MD8); Used for; clusters w/oil ga & light combination; Use w/12101899 conn; 2-Way male
Per Vehicle: 1; Years: 1992-1992
Can someone please tell me what the difference between these two is?
Thank you

Tell us what you are working on. Different years and engines take different parts. 213-4396 looks like a CTS used by GM on most models from the mid eighties up to current.

The firsy one is the CTS. It tells your computer what the temp is for engine management purposes. The second one is for the temp gauge readings. What are you trying to fix?
Re: ACDelco Cooling Sensors
Ah, thank you! My primary fan was not working for a few days. The previous owner spliced a bunch of wires throughout the electrical system, one came loose and shorted the fan relay (took a few days to fix 'cause I started at the fan and tried tracing the wires back looking for the problem, but there are many extra wires spliced along the line).
Its been a couple of months and now that the weather is up (85+) my temp gauge has been reading higher than I'm normally comfortable with. My secondary fan appears to be coming on consistently at the correct temp, so I don't know if the motor has always been this hot and I'm just noticing it because I recently had a cooling problem, or if there actually is something different.
Because of this I was looking into replacing some sensors, if not to fix a possible issue, then at least as a preventative measure/maintenance because of the high mileage (186k). While looking up the parts I found both of these ACDelco units and could not discern a difference.
Thanks for the info!
