L98 water pump rebuild
Is there a service that rebuilds water pumps? The water pump to my car is original, so I'd like to have it rebuilt and ready for future use.
Thanks
Thanks

Uhm, yeah its a joke....that's why I posted it! Seriously, I used an after-market gear box on my 77 T/A and it never quite fit correctly. I had the original rebuilt and everything went back together perfectly.

i think there are companies that rebuild water pumps individually for restorations that could rebuild your original.

I think some of the aftermarket water pumps outperform the original. You could always purchase a new water pump and hold on to the original in case it does not perform to your expectations. Try a Stewart water pump. They use a GM case and put better stuff inside.

I'll have to look into that, thanks.
I've read on this site and a few others, about how they were pleased with Stewart pumps.

Yes, there are rebuiling companys out there. I had one done many yrs ago for my 89 formula.
I have noticed lately that the "new" water pumps are using the older housing that doesn't look correct for a serp belt car, plus it makes it hard to figure out if you have the correct pump.
I have a almost 20yr old Edelbrock pump on my 89 now that just started seaping and needs to go back for a rebuild. I heard one guy say it cost him 65 bux to have Edelbrock do a rebuild on his E-pump. We shall see.
