so i broke this today .. what is it? (pic)

Camaro 92 RS v6 3.1
was working on therm stat and got done with it. and started put 2 hoses back onto the throttle body and then must of pushed pulled wrong way and snap..

there is peice sticking out still that could grab probably get to it easier if could get this peice infront of it out of the way.

metal hose is stuck to something under alternator . does this piece come apart from this metal niche holding it in place?

from the heater control valve to under therm housing line is what im talking about. goes from lil rubber at hcv to metal then to some plastic piece going right under where thermostat is... <broke that part>

bahh. if could move this thing could probably get that piece that broke off better but seems weilded in almost lol.

did i screw the pooch on this one?

You can thank gm for using cheap pot metal , I believe dorman has it in there help 800-401
acdelco 15-75224,

You will need to chisel it out out I have pounded in a cheap socket extension to remove it.
You can also cut down just a little ways with a hack saw blade to weaken it the chisel out the pieces. Be careful not to damage the threads on the manifold.

You'll need one of these to remove it. You drive it in and unscrew whats left. You may also need a tap to clean the threads.

Yea, that tool sucks. Hardly ever works. It won't grab the soft metal. I take a small grinding bit and carefully grind one side and then the other side and it falls apart. I run a tap through it, install new fitting and good to go. Works every time.

Depress the ears on the plastic clip to release the nipple. Double check the p/n for application listing on the acdelco 15-75224.

It works great, drive it in, spin it and it will normally clean the old krap out to the top of the threads, then, run the tap in to clean the rest of the old fitting out of the threads.

Agree, tool rarely works, but can give it a try. I would get rid of the quick connec and replace with barb fitting and moulded 90 hose

it should have came with a o-ring already installed in the fitting. I'm not a fan of reusing o-rings your just asking for a failure.

Re: so i broke this today .. what is it? (pic)

ok its all put together besides the alternator isnt connected cause broke the female plug.. thanks for helping with that about to buy one.. but i was wondering cause my coolant starts boiling back at around 210 215. when does my engine fan come on? i turned it off once started boiling back just incase. It sucked like thermostat opened early on.

but ya when does stock normal fan kick on or watever? i always seemed that it was around 220 or so as it seem to always run hot and boil back like always did
