Under Dash A/C?

Has anyone out there successfully and cleanly installed an under dash ac system to be able to remove HVAC box in engine compartment and original under dash box. Need more room in engine bay ( full of 414 sbc, a/c, fuel injection, ignition, ati procharger & tubing, big rad & big fans ) as you can see! I do not need a heater at all as this is a fair weather 782 rwhp friend in need of a roll cage. Pictures would be great! Thank you in advance.

Re: Under Dash A/C?

I would also like to take time to apologize to those who have pm'd me. I have not been on here in a couple of years because of circumstances beyond my control ( not prison! LOL ). The car has changed quite a bit since last postings. Still have more to do but am getting ready to fire her up again for the 1st time in 2 yrs. She made 782 rwhp last pull but 80 miles into this and Jessel rockers shelled needle bearings out ( small enough to go through Moroso pickup screen ! Went back with Crower fed under pressure rocker shaft rockers, changed from Corvette oem fans to Derale fans and made 2 pc shroud to fit radiator, put exhaust dumps on now ( Diablo guy at dyno session said I was losing 100hp with out them ) and added a 180 amp alternator from Nations that is supposed to do 140amp at idle to keep fuel pump, fans and computer happy with ac & head lights on. Anyway, my apologies for not replying to pm's.

Re: Under Dash A/C?

If I remember correctly, Vintage air did a complete under-dash a/c system on a 3rd gen years ago and also an ISIS management system. It was posted in an article on the GM High Performance website. I am actually trying to design something even more different right now utilizing an electric a/c compressor to really free up space but I have not finished figuring out the efficiency rating as compared to a mechanical compressor.

That's interesting. How many amps to operate?
