Re: re-installin air conditioning

I am also interested in this. I dont mean to thread hi-jack just figured maybe we could both benefit from a single thread.

I dont know much of anything about A/C systems. Mine was ripped out before i got the car so on the passenger side of mine it looks like someone did a hack job and cut up the black plastic container thing, which im assuming contained the evaporator core?? Also the condenser and the compressor as well as all the lines are gone. Any direction would also be appreciated.

Thanks.

Re: re-installin air conditioning

traffic, your question doesn't make sense...

the wiring for engine compartment and the vacuum tube runs also inside the engine compartment
Not sure what you're trying to ask.

Fanatic, sounds like the commonsensical place to start in your case would be, obtain the entire evaporator housing from a junk car, including the evaporator; and get a new compressor, condenser, orifice tube, and entire new set of lines. Along with any other parts that are missing like brackets and such which of course can come from a junk car with the same accessory setup as yours, which I believe any early-mid 80s Chevy car will have what you need.
